FOGGING TREATMENT
A mosquito fogging treatments goal is to knock down any existing current adult mosquitoes in the service area and provide residual control for the contacted surface areas. The chemical residual is effective for 30-60 days indoor and about 30 days outdoor, depending on exterior factors such as irrigation or types of plants and plant density. Mosquitos fogging treatments can be done indoors. For exterior mosquito treatments we are using a gas-powered backpack fogger than can reach up to 20ft high and out. Adult mosquitoes primarily feed on nectar from plants, aphid honeydew, and plant juices, so being able to reach up and into trees is key for a good fogging. An exterior fogging is directed to get inside brush and shrub areas, through ground cover like ivy. The fog settles on leaves, branches, vines, any surface it touches to leave the residual behind. As the fog is being applied, it is also killing existing adult mosquitos it meets. For interior fogging like an office area, we use an electric ULV machine. Interior fogging’s have the same basic concept as exterior, except the treatment is focused on higher perimeter areas, corners and around lighting. Indoor planters and waterscapes are also a concern.
Mosquito fogging treatments can be done both indoors and outdoors. The most common is outdoor, especially for residences. We also treat restaurant outdoor dining areas, and outdoor product sales areas. We can mosquito fog just about any exterior space, residential or commercial. A mosquito fogging treatment is the single best way to immediately knock down existing mosquito activity on a property and provide extended residual control moving forward.
EXTERIOR FOGGING
An exterior mosquito fogging service works in three ways. It provides a repellant barrier for your location that helps keep new mosquitos away. An immediate knock down that will kill existing mosquitos and a residual control that will help control any mosquitos that contact the residual. A mosquito fogging treatment focuses on where mosquitos like to harbor. Shaded areas under plants such as bushes, trees, eave areas, under patio furniture and patio covers, ground cover and leaf build up under plants, trash cans and many more. We also focus around exterior use areas such as pools, patios, BBQ areas, kids play areas and other similar spots around your house. We can reach about 20 feet up into trees. Areas around windows and doors are also treated to help keep mosquitos away from entry areas leading inside. We can even fog in the garage.
PREPARING FOR EXTERIOR FOGGING
Prior to a fogging treatment we prepare the exterior removing items that we can’t treat such items as pet dishes, tableware, food service items, towels, and certain kids and pet toys. We are also making sure that all windows and doors are closed prior to treatment. There are many, many variables that go into the length of the fogging treatment effective time. An exterior fogging treatment is effective from 5-21 days before another treatment is needed. This also depends on our clients’ expectations and use of the property. Most areas require two exterior fogging treatments per month for best results. Some locations may require treatment more often. Amount of green landscaping, lawn areas, shaded areas,and off property factors such as drainage channels and more are all factors that go into the length of effectiveness. INTERIOR FOGGING
Interior mosquito fogging treatments are generally done for larger facilities such as warehouses, office areas, construction sites, or other similar areas. We can also perform interior fogging treatments of a residence. In most cases some minor preparation is needed prior to treatment. We use a ULV fogging system that emits a light mist onto surface areas. The service performs in two ways. An instant knock down and a residual treatment. The interior areas treated need to be vacated at time of service and for at least 4 hours after treatment ends.
MOSQUITO STATIONS
Mosquito stations kill both the adult female and the larva of the Aedes mosquito. Aedes are the biggest transmitter of viruses to humans. Aedes mosquitos are also the most conducive breed of mosquito to human environments. They are attracted to small man-made breeding sites and have a unique egg-laying behavior spreading eggs over several sites. The trap is not actually trapping the mosquito. Once inside the station the mosquito will contact the gauze and become contaminated with the larvicide and then move to lay eggs at another site. As the contaminated mosquito lays eggs from site it is also contaminating those sites and killing off all of the larvae and pupa. The original contaminated adult mosquito is dead within 2 to 4 days. Stations are placed in shaded areas and close to attractive sites like bushes and trees. Station density is 1 station for every 400 msq or about 10 per acre. Average 1600 sq ft home needs 2-3. Lastly, mosquito stations are focused on the female mosquito because they are the ones that bite. The more females around, the more males are likely to gather.
WATER TREATMENTS
Water treatment mosquito service is to eliminate the larva that develop from mosquito eggs. It takes about 7 days for a mosquito to make it from egg to adult. We treat the water with a tablet or granular that releases a larvicide over time. Before the larvae have time to make it to adult hood, they are killed off by the larvicide. Great for ponds, fountains, unmaintained pools, sump pump areas and drainage locations.
